Across my journey caring for cats, I’ve learned what things cats love, hate, and very much need. Here are my top recommendations for items!!!

Litter

Robo Litter – If you can afford it, DO IT! This works so well – though often takes some getting used to from the kitties.

Litter Genie – this is essential for easy litter scooping (and doing multiple scoops between changing bags!).

Type of litter – I’ve seen them all and this is the one that was the best smelling, best clumping, and most mess-free – Walnut. This is the best one I’ve used – Naturally Fresh Cat Litter – Walnut-Based Quick-Clumping Kitty Litter, Unscented, Multi-Cat

Eating

The most common issues i’ve seen are around eating are eating too fast, stealing other cat’s food (in the case of multiple cats) and getting up early for a hungry cat.

Automatic Dispensers: These are great for timed releases so you don’t have to wake up on your cat’s clock!

• PETLIBRO Automatic Cat Feeder: for DRY food. You can set multiple feedings, and even have a sound or message play when it goes off (though in my experience, the sound of kibble dropping will be heard by the cat no matter where they are!)
  • There are even dual cat options and an upgraded version with a camera included.
• PETLIBRO Automatic Cat Feeder Wet Food: For WET food. You can set multiple meals OR multiple days on this, and it keeps the food refrigerated.

Security Dispensers: If you have multiple cats, and one of whom will try to steal the others food, a dispenser that only opens for the right cat can save you so many headaches. While the extreme bully cat will get around this, this option works great for 98% of situations!

• Sure Petcare -SureFlap – SureFeed – Microchip Pet Feeder: Drop the food in and hit the button to close the cover, and it will only open when the cat with the correct microchip comes near, and closes once they walk away.
• PETLIBRO RFID Automatic Cat Feeder – I’ve not seen this one in person but its from a great brand and works similarly to the Sure one!

Slow it down: If your cat is eating too fast and tossing their cookies immediately after, try altering their feeding, including with slow feed mats.

• Silicone slow feeder mats
• Ceramic slow feeder bowl – a bit prettier and raised off the ground

Water

Water is so important to keep your cat healthy! Water fountains are universally more succesful at being enjoyed by cats over cups/bowls of water.

Fanciest water fountain – PETLIBRO Upgrade Cat Water Fountain – Pet Libro again is my recommendation with this top of the line wifi enabled fountain.

Great water fountain – no complaints on the Wonder Creature Cat Water Fountain Stainless Steel fountain, which is also cute!

Stylish bowl – Ceramic Elevated Cat Food and Water Bowl, I just love the look of this ceramic bowl set!

If none of these work for getting your cat to drink more, I recommend the old ‘bowl next to the shower’ for mystically wonderful shower water. Something about having mist from the shower seems to attract cats to it!

Fun Things

Toys

• Laser Pointer – A classic, this is the deluxe version, with a slider and its rechargeable, WOW!
• Puzzle Ball Tower – I’ve seen very picky cats be mesmerized by this one!
• Plastic Springs – simple but effective (though you’ll find them disappearing under couches!)
• Mice Toys – another classic.
• Mice toys with scratcher
• Doorway retractable toy – this is SO FUN and for a cat that loves moving toys, this is such a great one!

Scratch Pads: You know you need these or else it will be your furniture getting scratched! These are a part of a healthy cat routine.

• L-Shaped floor scratcher – This is popular, especially as you can flip it several different ways.
• Infinity shaped floor scratcher – I like this one aesthetically and it seems popular as well.
• Mounted wall scratcher – This is a good one, cats usually like round scratchers more than a flat panel on a wall.

Brushes

• Everyday brush
• Deshedding brush – for our long haired friends
• Corner brush – I love this!! You attach it to a corner wall, and its basically a brush for the cat to rub up against on their own. It also can save your wall if its a spot the cat rubs against anyways.

Misc.

• Pet vacuum – if you have a long hair cat especially, or multiple animals, this can be a godsend! It also has specific attachments for dog grooming, but works great for kitties as well.
• CAT COUCH – honestly i haven’t seen this in person, but is it not the cutest thing ever?

Cat Perches

• Window Perch – I haven’t seen this one in person but its the closest model to ones I’ve seen cats love!
• Cat Tower – There are so many out there, but this is one I saw get a LOT of use by two kitties.
• I haven’t recommended any cat beds because in my experience, cats will not really use them as intended. However, a soft blanket over one in a cozy space will often work 😀
